Hi-Fi Amp / AV Receiver Help And Advice Needed!

In the Summer i will be looking to get some new equipment. I want to have a decent Hi-Fi set up (been looking at the MF/Primare Ranges, etc) + Hi-Fi speakers (Monitor Audio, etc) + turntable.

I am also looking for a Home Theatre Set Up (which will consist of AV Receiver, 5.1 Speaker package - probably Kef 5005.2, DVD Player, etc).

My thinking behind this was that i wanted a dedicated Hi-Fi setup that sounds great and not compromise on a Home Theatre Setup which will also be used for music which may not sound as good.

Is my thinking correct?!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Hi-Fi Amp / AV Receiver Help And Advice Needed!

Really depends on how much you want to spend, and how much room you have.

I currently have separate AV and stereo systems in two different rooms and wouldn't have it any other way. But it's only because I couldn't afford a decent musical AV amp & speakers.

If you're looking at Primare and MF, I don't think there's any AV amp that will outclass them for stereo.

I personally beleive if you can seperate them you will get the best performance.

That said, Arcam have always made very good AV amps for both music and movies, and have a couple of new ones on the way. Will definately be worth waiting to see what's out over the next few months before making a decision.
