Advice on this system please...

Hi I'm looking for a speaker system for my 32 inch lcd and xbox (soon to have hd dvd aswell). My budget is up to £200 as I'm only 17. I found this Goodmans system for £200 is it any good?

http://www.goodmans.co.uk/productdet...language=en-GB

Thanks.

Re: Advice on this system please...

If I only had £200 to spend I'd be buying used. I'd also probably only go 2.1 as well.

Is the £200 for speakers and sub only, or the amp as well?

£200 is for everything, don't need a dvd player though if thats any help. Theres plenty of cheapsh systems and I'm not too fussed about a really great system, just want xbox and movies to sound good.

Re: Advice on this system please...

"Cheapish" as you've described and "sound good" are an oxymoron I'd put money on you being disappointed with the Goodmans but if you're after an all-in-one try here:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/all-one-systems/

£200 will get you a good sounding system but you'd have to scout around to source the bits e.g. fleabay and the classifieds here, to find some speakers, a sub and an amp. It will take a bit longer than phoning Empire and placing an order but your smile will be bigger at the end of it.

Reasonable quality used stuff will have a reasonable resale value; the goodmans will have a £20 resale value.

Your choice and good luck.

For £200 all in I'd go the for the Yamaha AV-59 package which is the Yam 359 amp and NSP110 5.1 speaker package. Seems to get good reviews for the money for users on here. Hope that helps.

Hi - i would certainly recommend the Yamaha setup - don't know much about that amp cos I've got the RXV650, but that is really good. I've had the speakers for a couple of years and am just now upgrading all to B&W.
Yamaha have a great name - for a budget system you could do a lot worse!
Hope this helps.
