I've had to change the image links in this post to hyperlinks instead as the forum admin doesn't like large images, and I want people to see the detail this thing can produce.
Thanks to Elliot I now have my very own HD1
I think I'm even more impressed with it now than I was at the screening event. Out of the box the colours look spot on and the vibrancy and punch are just unbelievable.
On the convergence side I had to shift blue up one pixel which brought it bang on and shift red right one pixel which makes it off by about 1/4 pixel.
I switched back & forth between the HD1 and my old Sim2 HT200 DMF and the difference was amazing. Obviously the HD1 resolution is better but absolutely everything else about the image was better, colour, contrast, punch, vibrancy everything. So, so happy :-)
So on to some pictures. These were taken with a point & shoot camera (Canon Ixus-i zoom) on a tripod with flash turned off. They're not great but
all I can do as I don't have a better digital camera.
Here's the beast in its (very) temporary tabletop setup used for these shots (it's since been packed away and put in the cellar whilst I wait for the room to be re-decorated and the new screen & ceiling mount to arrive.)

I've got it hooked up to a media center PC running at 1080i via DVI->HDMI (have to use 1080i not 1080p as my Toshiba LCD TV doesn't support 1080p)
then via a Gefen 4:2 switch box so I can drive the HD1 and the TV from the same sources via HDMI.
Here's a picture of the MCE's Vista desktop

As you can see it has no overscan, so goves a perfect 1:1 pixel mapping (indeed I used a PC based set of test images to perfect the convergence)
Here's Vista MCE's interface - all nice and shiny

and here's a freeze frame of standard def freeview via MCE

Now as far as black levels are concerned - YOU CAN'T SEE THE BLACK FRAMES TOP & BOTTOM ON 2.35:1 STUFF. If you don't believe me check this out - from the opening of Flightplan on Sky HD10
http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~m455954/IMG_3175.JPG
and here's a freeze frame a little later where you can see the black bars

Nothing changed between those shots apart from me unpausing and re-pausing the SkyHD box.
The absolute eye opener with thsi projector though was the footage from Sunday night's Superbowl (which I kept just to check with the HD1 even though I'm a Bears fan of 21 years and we lost horribly)

The sharpness really shows up with on-screen graphics (the jp[g compression on the camera makes this look softer than it actually was)

Oh, I checked and there's absolutely no screen corner brightening on my one, checked with a black screen from the MCE box and neither I nor my friend who's over checking it out could see any corner brightening at all.
So, that's it for now - I must say I'm even happier than I thought i'd be with it, and once I get the new 9' wide screen from Elliot I'll be even happier
