Lights on HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge
Tomorrow night there is a light show up at HMS Belfast, City Hall and Tower Bridge. I read about it in the metro and quite fancied being out to take photos with my new tripod and new d80!
I think the show/exhibition is in aid of showing off some how good low consumption lighting is these days. The preview pics showed beams coming out of the cannons on the ship and tons of other stuff
Anyone else thinking of going up?
Should make a change from the usual night shots of london

Re: Lights on HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge
It's called Switch On London
http://www.switchedonlondon.co.uk/
I was thinking about going to this, but I'm worried about their normal tripod policy. The times I've been down there, I've been approached by security regarding the use of tripods and the use of SLRs for that matter. Anyone know if these restrictions are going to be lifted for this event?

Re: Lights on HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge
Looks interesting but will probably go on a different night.
Have emailed the organisers to ask about their approach to SLRs/ tripods

Re: Lights on HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge
Hmm... very quick response from them
Quote:
Ast, I’m not aware of any security issues because there are so many different areas and there are different security personnel. I would just go down there and try. If any problems do become apparent I will try to deal with them appropriately.

let us konw what to expect.
I always find these things look better on the website than in real life but i still want to get some shots, even if its just for this months comp.
My son goes to sea cadets on tuesdays and Fridays on the Belfast but i work late so my his mum gets the pleasure of taking him on a Friday.

Re: Lights on HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge
This sounds pretty good.
Tomorrow night is a push, but one of the nights next week would be cool.
It's on till the 16th so there is still a little time.
I'm free any night next week if that's a possibility.

Re: Lights on HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge
Took my camera to work today, thought i might get some nice snow shots but too scared to get it out while its snowing
If anyone does go down to the river on Sat (or any evening) its really nice just before the sun dissapears completly. we were down there between 4-6pm a few weeks ago and its really nice just as the lights are coming on but its still bright enough to shoot hand held. Got some good shots with my Tamron 17-50f/2.8. really looking forward to trying the Canon out.
Might see some of you down there over the weekend then.
Im going to go on Sat but it will be later on in the evening but will also try for a bit earlier on sunday, weather permitting.
