Re: televes dat 75 ariel

I wouldn't waste my money,if your getting 75% signal 100% won't make any difference at all.
Most people only start to mess around when the picture starts to break up or some of the channels are missing.

Re: televes dat 75 ariel

With 100% signal, unless you get it from Crystal Palace, you could be in trouble. In general (C.P. is a notable exception) the digital signal is 20dB or more lower than the analogue signal. The max analogue signal that most receivers will tolerate is 80dBuV, meaning that 60dBuV is the max for digital.

That translates to around 70% signal being the absolute max safe signal level for Freeview (except that the actual measurement varies from one receiver to another AND not all transmitters are 20dBuV down - some are 30dBuV down - meaning that 50% digital signal could be too high!)

Re: televes dat 75 ariel

not exactly sure what to do then? my house is exactly 22.6 miles from crystal palace and its supposed not to be able to recieve freeview so i figured im lucky to have what i have, the most common strength on my channels are 67% signal and 97% quality, ive only noticed on itv sometimes i get green stripes and cutouts like there some kind of transmission thats not enough or too much? would u instead of getting a new ariel get an amplifier perhaps?

Re: televes dat 75 ariel

I'm on the outer fringe in an unsupported area as well. Best thing I did was spend the few hundred on a professional who has the measuring equipment to see the effect. As I also wanted the HD trial transmissions to be picked up I did go for an arial replacement and then reduced the too strong signal, but still had a pass-through port on my distribution amp/box thingy which I use for the HD Trial signals....Happy bunny now...I tried it the DIY method before, but the proper meters are more expensive than getting a professional in....So unless you expect to move a lot in fringe areas I wouldn't bother trying to do it all yourself....As too much is just a bad as too little and then you'll never know....

Re: televes dat 75 ariel

For Crystal Palace at 26 miles you'll probably need a Blake DMX-10A aerial (note correct spelling) and a very low noise masthead amplifier.

The DMX-10A is available from CPC.

The 1.4dB masthead amp is available from SatCure (and other places but watch out for that low noise figure!)
