increasing and decreasing volume clicking sound

I've noticed (intermittent) increasing and decreasing my volume on my amp (AVC-A1XVA) it makes a clicking sound(relays I guess). It was doing that sound while connected to my denon dvd player via HDMI.What I did next is went to my cd player( which is a NAD) and had connected that through optical.Increasing and decresing it did not make that clicking sound at all.My next thought was could it be a HDMI (Handshake problem), I could be way wrong, but has anyone else expeirenced this problem. It's funny also how when disconnecting my projector the amp audio disconnects, I was told thats Hdmi.Any help will be appreciated.

Re: increasing and decreasing volume clicking sound

Hi WB
Since we both have the same amp, I thought I would try and reproduce your problem with my DVD recorder connected via HDMI, but so far I can't get it to happen. There do seem to be some issues with HDMI connections on this forum though. Just wondering if it's at all related to the quality of these leads as there is a huge price difference between various brands, and if people are using long lengths, this will only contribute to possible data errors.
I personally think that since these leads are a once-only purchase it's better to buy the best you can afford, considering the high data rate they pass.
(Not saying , of course that this is any part of your problem. )
btw, considering how loud this Amp can go, you must have very good hearing to hear the relays working !!
I'll let you know if I get this problem in the future..
All the best

Re: increasing and decreasing volume clicking sound

Hi Jh4, how are you doing mate? It doesn't happen often but after testing the Nad straight away it never happend on that so I though it has to be HDMI.I've talked to a few people who have had diffrent issues with Hdmi, but who knows.Cross my fingers it will never happen again.
