VGA to DVI Scalers

Hi I'm having a few problems with my VGA from my xbox 360 to my tv (ive tried everything and have posted info on a different forum) My TV has a DVI-I socket only and when I select the resolutions from the xbox none of them fill the screen I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on scalers and would I be able to manually adjust the picture to fit my tv ie stretch horizontally and vertically using these machines? I've been looking at this model http://shopping.lycos.co.uk/12408enEXT-VGA-2-DVIS.html but dont want to fork out money I dont have on a product that wont solve my problem
Cheers

Re: VGA to DVI Scalers

I guess you have a Philips or similar. The problem is the screen, it will only accept x y z resolutions. Even if you have a scaler with infinite possible output resolutions it's still a case that the TV will not accept it.

I'm pretty sure you need to use the HD component output for the Xbox, and then a dongle to DVI-I, and send 720p to the display.

Re: VGA to DVI Scalers

I have done that I can only select 1080i that will fill the entire screen but it looks grainy the 720p setting floats in the middle of the screen with black bars all the way around

Re: VGA to DVI Scalers

There are, but unfortunately these functions are disabled, would it be better to get a good quality component xbox lead (like the monster component cable), would this improve the image quality or are these just expensive gimmicks?
