Unhappy Problem with Denon 4306 - 2930 using Denon Link

Problem description:
I have connected the amplifier Denon-4306 (bought it
last year) with a brand new Denon DVD-2930 via the Denon Link connection
(3rd edition option on 2930 setup menu), while using HDMI for image output.
When I use HDMI for Audio output everything works fine. However, since I have quite many
SACD's I preferred to use the promising Denon Link cable.
When I do this, the DVD refuses to execute commands such as 'Menu', 'Next Chapter', etc.
Surprisingly, when I switch the AV input to e.g. CD, the DVD becomes
operating again and continues to operate when I switch back the amp to
DVD input. Unfortunately the next time I try to use another command on
the DVD it stops operating gain. Note that during this time no button of
the 2930 is functioning, not even the On/Off button.
I would appreciate if you could advise me on this because I have no idea
of what's going on and I certainly paid a considerable amount of money
to get the advantages of Denon Link, which unfortunately refuses to do
what its supposed to.

Thanks

Eric

Re: Problem with Denon 4306 - 2930 using Denon Link

I take it that under the audio input menu under digital in assign, you have D-Link assigned to DVD.

Next, have you assigned Pure Direct to the DVD settings? If for example you have selected 'all off' you are disabling the video out put from the DVD (if it is the same as the 3930).

Finally when playing an SACD, you have to select the track type (CD, SACD 2 Channel, Multichannel etc) from SACD setup.

Could you provide a little more information if none of the above is relevant.

YES

NO. I don't see why I should assign Pure Direct on all times. Still I have not selected 'all off' and video signal pass normally through the HDMI.

Finally when playing an SACD, you have to select the track type (CD, SACD 2 Channel, Multichannel etc) from SACD setup.

With SACD it works fine except for hybrid discs which are not extracting multi channel info. I realized that a lot of 2930 owners have the same problem.

I contacted DENON Greece but they new nothing about the problem. They suggested to put Denon Link the other way round, just in case something is wrong with the cable. Maybe I will have to try with another cable as well.

Re: Problem with Denon 4306 - 2930 using Denon Link

Any luck?

This may be a silly suggestion, but make sure you don't accidentally plug the cable into the regular Ethernet jack on the 4306 - it's got 1 RJ-45 jack for Ethernet networking on the bottom corner of the unit and another separate RJ-45 for Denon Link (that usually has a plug cover over it) on the top edge.

I could certainly see the 2930 being confused if its Denon Link cable was plugged into the Ethernet jack that was trying to do some kind of negotiation.
