Anyone using a SE mobile with bluetooth handsfree?

I just bought a Sony Ericsson Z710i to replace my Nok 6310i that has finally expired.

There is one thing bugging me about using it with a bluetooth headset and I'm sure I must be missing something.

With my Nok, when it recognised a bluetooth headset it would automatically switch over to the 'headset profile' and when the headset was disconnected it automatically switched back to it's original profile.

With my Z710i this doesn't happen, the headset connects but the phone stays in the 'normal' profile, the headset profile appears to need manually selecting.

I can't believe this can be standard behaviour, why would the phone have a headset profile if it doesn't automaticaaly use it when a headset is connected??

I beleieve the Z710i uses the same firmware as a load of other SE models so I hope someone here might know what I'm doing wrong.

Cheers

I was in the same boat...after a couple of years using a Nokia 6310i upgraded to a Samsung D600 and couldn't believe that after connecting you had to press a button on the phone or bluetooth headset before you could talk...the Nokia auto-answered after the ringing duration you had set it to and you just talked.
Now upgraded to a Motorola V3i and it works beautifully like the Nokia.

If you go to profiles in the settings menu, select the hands-free profile and edit. You can then associate an accesory to the profile. So when the accesory connects the profile is automatically selected.

Deebo, thanks for that. Unfortunately it didn't work though. I played around a bit and what you suggested works fine with a hardwired headset but not with bluetooth. I can only assume SE doesn't support profile switching via bluetooth, which is a bit crap considering most people use a bluetooth handsfree rather than a wired one.

Anyone know any better??
