Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

I've had the phone for a few days now and am really impressed with how good the device is.
My only issue so far is, I can't get my wireless LAN/wifi to work.
The phone can see my router and indicates its avaliable though after attempting to connect to it it says unavailable. I've enter the network name and security key.
Can some one help with the settings or any thing I maybe overlooking, thanx

does it say limited connectivity?

try and turn off encryption and make sure that your router is allowing it to access the internet.

Re: Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

Is there any chance you have MAC address filterting on the router, if so you'll have to enter the MAC address of your Orbit.

Re: Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

It maybe the MAC filtering that is causing the problem. On the router it ask for the name of the device and MAC code. What do i enter as the device name (does it have a default name). I'll give it ago at lunch time.

Regards the limited connectivity, having attempted to connect, it either shows unavailable or it goes back to available again.

Thanx

Re: Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

I think as the device name on mine I believe I simply entered ORBIT, however I would have to confirm his on my router at home.

The MAC address you will grab from the Orbit itself.

After I had entered the MAC address on my router, and turned back on the Broadcast SSID, all I did to connect my Orbit was follow the wizard on the Orbit itself. After this I disabled again the Broadcast SSID on the router. My Orbit connects fine as and when required.

Re: Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

Thanx for the replies.
I've got it working. It was the MAC filtering that wasn't seeing my phone so I entered user name Orbit and its mac address and that did the trick.
Is there any security i need to enable on the phone or should the firewall and security on the router be enough.

Re: Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

Should be enough I would have thought, however we are talking about a Windows device here so take the word 'security' with a pinch of salt.

Looks like you have encryption and MAC filtering so you should be ok, don't quote me on that though lol.

Re: Xda Orbit Wireless LAN Settings?

Thanx for the advice.
Overall this is a great phone and I received the co-pilot sat nav stuff today so will install it when I receive my sd card tomorrow.
This will be the icing on the cake for me.
