Help a Newbie! ... with Speakers

Good Evening all! Before I ask a newbie question, please dont flame. I am thinking about buying some 1200Watt speakers for my car. Now the question I would like to ask is how would they sound by just replacing the standard vauxhall corsa 6 x9 speakers with these 6 x9 speakers. Any advise would help! Thanks.

Re: Help a Newbie! ... with Speakers

when it comes to speakers ignore all rateings for speakers. what counts is how they perform.
the only figure worth paying any atention to is, ??watts pe channel RMS at 4 ohms not 2 omhs
most big names are thereabout in claims like alpine, pioneer, infinity etc.
at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
my advice is select a rated product then find a good price for them online.

Re: Help a Newbie! ... with Speakers

You would normally divide their rating by 4 to give you a rough guess to its real power.

Mounting the speakers.........

The doors hold 6inch and the 6 inch rear doors and theshelf is the only other option.
Mouting the speakers is easy if you good with a jigsaw. You can buy ready made shelves from autoleads car audio retailers but they tend to become a tad rattle and hum after about 4 weeks of opening and shutting the boot.

I suggest you stick a 15/18mm mdf into your original shelf and carpet it over. Total cost around 15 pound and around 4 hopurs of labour.
