BT Home Hub

I've just upgraded my broadband to BT broadband. The speeds are good but the equipment is rubbish. One of reasons I went for this was for the uncapped usage and for the broadband talk. If I change to my old router (Linksys) that works fine I will loose the phone package.

Ha anyone else had any problems and can they be corrected or shall I just forget about the phones and switch back to my old router?

Re: BT Home Hub

i may be wrong here, but i dont think an ISP can 'sense' what particular type of equipment you are using on your broadband connection.

you should be able to use your old linksys to provide you witha stable connection.

Re: BT Home Hub

If all you want is the ADSL/Modem router the linksys will work.

I think the home hub gives you the dect phone bridge, which is an alright piece of kit.

You could try bridging the home hub to the linksys just to give you the phone capability.

Hopefully someone will be able to tell you whether any Wifi phone will work.

Or you could just use the softphone

BTW have you had the homehub firmware upgrade?

When was the firmware upgrade? I got one about 8 weeks ago, just after buying the hub but not got anything since

You can tell as it gives you Dynamic DNS

Re: BT Home Hub

Already using the Linksys and its fine but I'm still loosing the VOIP setup that the home hub has that way.

How have you upgraded the firmware? I think having the dynamic DNS might cure my problems.

Not sure how to bridge the two hubs together. I've given it ago but they just conflict with each other.

Re: BT Home Hub

Check your version of firmware first.

You should be able to set up the home hub as a dhcp client to the linksys ....i haven't had a play myself, but it should be able to bridge between the LAN and WLAN quite easily, with just a CAT 5 cable.

You may have to play around with your private LAN DHCP or static IP address settings and which device dishes out the DHCP addresses to the WLAN.

But as the other poster says, try and get the firmware upgrade, I too am working sweet with the Home Hub, and if I were you I wouldn't want to complicate things.

Re: BT Home Hub

If that doesn't work you can download it and load it yourself.

http://www.btopenworld.com/broadband..._firmware.html

But you have to do a factory reset and then resetup your phone settings and any other settings you may have changed

Re: BT Home Hub

Thank you Geoff I did see that but it wouldn't work. I'll try the other approach.

Thanks
