upscale through component

Is there any DVD player out there that will upscale dvd's through component cables as I have a Sony 12HT video projector that only has component inputs and no HDMI. I am currently using an Xbox 360 which is ok but most of my dvd's are region 1 and it will only play region 2. Your help will be much appreciated.

Re: upscale through component

I think there is more then one. I own a Panasonic S52 and it upscales both with components and HDMI on PAL and NTSC up to 720p

Re: upscale through component

Hmm, I'm not really a subscriber to the mega expensive cables being better theory.
Depends what you want to pay really.

These would do a great job:

He's also a forum member

EDIT:
I can attest to his fantastic service.

Re: upscale through component

I agree not paying for expensive cables, but they do defintely make a small difference. I have quite a few cables for hook up video of my dvd players and only one gives marginally better details in movies.

Re: upscale through component

out of stock for 3/4 weeks ah well gives me plenty of time to get a decent component cable, is £36/40 about right then for a decent cable. How would that compere with an ebay special at say £15/20 ?

Re: upscale through component

Chances are you can get a perfectly adequate one for a tenner.
The way I see it (and it's highly debatable) is that a perfectly adequate cheap cable will not be improved on in any way, no matter what people say.

All I can say is, if you buy the ones I linked to, you'll have to pay multiples of that price, to get some, if any, improvement.
