Recommendations for an HDMI switcher?

Crystalio II, VantageHD, RadianceXD, etc. don't count!

I'm considering a second-hand Meridian HDMAX (as it would integrate nicely), but how about:

I have used the 3-1 version, and it is very good indeed. I had an HDMI-DVI adaptor on the output, fitted onto a 12m DVI-DVI cable. Worked a treat. The auto sensor is a nice feature as well, so you don't really need the remote, unless you are switching back & forth a lot.

I thought it improved the signal a little, but may be my imagination. It certainly didn't make it worse. I think it's compliant upto HDMI 1.2, but you would have to check.

Re: Recommendations for an HDMI switcher?

Ive had both the Octava 3:1 and the 3:2 from Joe. Couldnt fault either of them , and the auto switching/sensing is nice and wife friendly

Re: Recommendations for an HDMI switcher?

I have the HDS4A-UK 4:1 from The Media factory which switches the optical audio as well as my old amp doesn't.

Works flawlessly!

Re: Recommendations for an HDMI switcher?

That's pretty positive support for the Octava...

Whilst I still think the Meridian would integrate better, I'm beginning to think that four HDMI inputs may not be enough! I already have Oppo 970, HD-XA1 and SkyHD. HD Media player (or PC) definitely a possibility and (unfortunately) a Blu-Ray player if the format war goes on and on and on....

Re: Recommendations for an HDMI switcher?

Another for the Octava 3:2 switch.

4-5 HDMI inputs is about as much as I've seen but I'm sure we'll see 8 port ones this year from the likes of Gefen and Octava (speak of the devil, there's a 8 port one from Gefen now ).

You could probably cascade a couple, I've got my VP50 going to the Octava which gives me 4+2 HDMI inputs that can be switched between the PJ and TV. The +2 Octava ports allow me to bypass the scaler so handy for the likes of my PC.

Re: Recommendations for an HDMI switcher?

I have the Octava 4 : 1 and it works a dream. Auto switching on video and digital audio is wife and kid friendly (well to mine anyway!)

Got mine from Joe at TMF, superb service. When the units were delivered late to TMF they actually personally delivered mine so I would have it the day they said I would
