sky + possble without subscription ?

Hi
Can anyone tell me is it possible to get sky+ without paying £10 month to Sky, cutting to the chase , if I put in a suitable dish, and twin cable, and buy my own sky+ box, has it got to be activated in some way by Sky ?, indeed will they know I have it connected, I have full sky digital package just now, but I am going to downgrade to minimum packe at £15 monthly, mainly becuse of them losing PGA golf, therefore would have to give sky £10 a month, I have at present Sky Digital dish fitted, and wondered if this is possible as a DIY sky + installation, or not, any advice appreciated.

Regards ledders

Hi there, I'm afraid in my experience you will not be able to use the record facility unless you are on a premium package, you will have to pay the extra £10 a month to use it.
If you want it mainly for soaps etc, you could get a freeview harddrive combo for around £100-£150 with no need for subscriptions.
HTH, Mark.

Re: sky + possble without subscription ?

The only way (as far as I am aware) to get Sky+ cheaper is to have 2 premium channels in your Sky package which is either Sky Sports 1 & 2 or movies channel ith this combination you get dont have to pay the extra 10 pounds.....as I have just go Sky+ (yes I have come out of the dark ages) and I dont pay for the extra 10 pounds......1st time on this forum and so far I really like it: humbsup:
