Sky+ DIY - step by step confirmation

Good Afternoon,
I'm new to forums so apologies if post format is not correct .

Having trawled through the FAQ'a and the posts i think i have the information i need but have noted it down below perhaps if someone see's a glaring error they would be kind enough to point it out.

Background
I have a UK house with sky digital but also live in france for work. I put up a 2nd dish in france and my sky box has crossed the channel with me for the last 2 years and so far no problems.

The skybox (Grundig) is getting a little flaky so i thought i'd upgrade to sky plus, I have bought a sky+ box off ebay. Now the tricky bit.

Normal sky : If i understand well the sky+box can be connected as a normal skybox (single input) do i need to tell sky as i didn't when i swopped my original Pace sky box (it went pop) for the 2nd hand grundig...nb i have the base package so no premium channels to match card to box for.

Sky+ . I need to add a 2nd feed from dish (quad LNB) and contact SKY to activiate box, link to my card, needs a phone line and 10GBP/month (or premium channel upgrade).

Is that it or have I missed a step.

Finally if i use the sky+ box as a normal skybox does it have the RF out to allow viewing in a 2nd room?

many thanks
C.

Re: Sky+ DIY - step by step confirmation

Welcome craig1608.

Yes, the SKY+ box will only operate as a standard STB unless you pay Sky £10 more each month or subscribe to premium channels. If you just want to use it for non-premium channels, don't bother phoning to pair it with your VC.

Yes, it has an RF2 out socket.

If you're not going to use the Sky+ functionality, save yourself the hassle of changing the LNB(s) and running second feed(s).
