Question Dv137 Can it Play any HD Content

Has anybody been able to play any HD content on DV137. Since the specs list support for MPEG2 video, I was hoping that there would be a way to burn one of the HD formats (e.g. MPEG2 TS or PS) to a regular DVD-R and play at full 1080 resolution. I have a lot of material from my Sony HD camera in MPEG TS format and I was counting on being able to burn to DVD and play through DV137. What about DiVx format? Is this just a matter to pick the right converting tool or is the DV137 limited to playing only SD in all video formats?

No, the DV137 does not support HD material in DiVx format or otherwise.

Re: Dv137 Can it Play any HD Content

Thanks Crusty. This is really too bad. Arcam clearly stated in their manual that it plays MPEG2 video files and did not state any limitations... They have the ability to produce 1080p output, why couldn't they support decoding it from at least one of the video file formats on a disc? I can't imagine this being more difficult than upscaling to 1080p.

I just did the same experiment on a Playstation3 and it plays full 1080i from by MPEG2 PS format burnt on a regular DVD-R. Is there any chance that Arcam might change it in future firmware releases? (sort of what they did with SACD support earlier). Or is this a Zoran chip limitation?

I suspect it is a limitation of the Zoran chipset, but I cannot be certain. It is most probably designed to deal with SD material only and then upscale it if necessary.
