Beyers DT770 pros & Macmini MBP?

Hi all,
I am thinkin about getting some DT770 Pros, but there are two versions 80ohm and 250ohm. I want to use them with my Macmini and Macbook pro, both for movies and music. Any suggestions to which will be better?

also wheres the best place to buy them?

Thank you

You would need to go for the 80 Ohm if you're not running it through an amp, however, even the 80 Ohm version would ideally need to be amped IMO.

"Okay" is a difficult question to answer and depends on your definition of "okay". You'll still hear sound from them, certainly, but they're an absolute pig to drive and I couldn't stand to listen to mine unamped when I owned them. I agree with DorKnight, if you really want the Beyers, go with the 80ohm version. I believe there's even a 32ohm version these days and, while I haven't ever heard them myself, I'd be willing to bet almost anything that they'd sound better than the 250ohm version unamped.
Are you specifically looking for a closed headphone?

I dont mind going for something else, but Ive found closed ones better. I had AKG before, but read about the DT770s and seemed to be quite good.

I just want something with decent bass, as i listen to alot of rnb, rap type music.

Re: Beyers DT770 pros & Macmini MBP?

I have the 80 Ohm Pro version and in my opinion they sound significantly better with an amp.

I'm using the Pocket Amp 2, which costs $54 at http://www.electric-avenues.com with my X-Mystique sound card.)

I thought they were OK without the amp but didn't sound as good as I expected, so I decided to buy a cheap amp. I think it would be a waste to use them without an amp.
