Sky Plus - New Customer with Communal Dish

I am about to move into a new flat with a communal dish. On the wall there are 2 sky connections - sat 1 & sat 2, which I'm told means I can get Sky Plus. On the sky website it says it will cost me £99 for the box, plus £60 installation fee. I rang sky, suggesting they drop the installation fee as all they need to do is connect the box (is that right?) but there was no budging.

Can I just buy a sky plus box off ebay and connect it myself? - (My monthly spend will be £34). If not, anyone got a new customer deal for sky plus? I found "Sky plus 49" for back in November, but all my searches bring up are existing customers complaining that new customers get all the deals!

Re: Sky Plus - New Customer with Communal Dish

You could risk eBay or buy a Sky+ box from someone like DASTV:
http://www.dastv.co.uk/ProductSearch.aspx?Category=144

Then you ask Sky for a "second hand contract". Sign that, post it back, and they'll post you the card within a week or so.

Sky won't waive the installation fee. Obviously if you were subscribing under a different name you stand a chance of getting a "new customer" deal.
