Sony Wireless Headphones - Amp Needed?

Hi guys,

About to purchase a pair of the Sony MDR-RF820RK to use mostly with my sony NW-A3000 player. My question is this, will I need a headphone amp such as the PA2V2 or the LDM?

I ask about these portable amps because i may want to use the amp on the move with my Sennheiser CX300's, will i notice the difference of an amp with these headphones?

Or should i just go for a dedicated headphone amp which has a proper mains supply?

TIA

Re: Sony Wireless Headphones - Amp Needed?

Also, how would you rate the Sony headphones? Do they sound any good?

I don't think you should bother with an amp TBH.

Unsure of your Wireless headphones but I would like to get a pair of Sony MDR-R10s

Re: Sony Wireless Headphones - Amp Needed?

would an amp even affect wireless headphones?

effectively the base station just transmits the data and there is circuitry inside the 'phones to drive them

Re: Sony Wireless Headphones - Amp Needed?

I don't know about the wireless cans but the amp will show very little if any improvement with the CX300.

Re: Sony Wireless Headphones - Amp Needed?

Thanks for the responses, and after looking around the web, I have found that wireless headphones are not really up to scratch yet, with interference and generally poor sound quality, so im thinking it might be wiser to go wired. I have about £40 to spend on a pair of decent headphones, and was looking at the Sennheiser HD215. Any other reccomendations in this price range? Are the sennheisers any good?

And finally, will I need a headphone amp such as the ones above to use it with the nw-a3000?

Sorry for all the questions...bit of a noob when it comes to headphones and portable audio!

TIA
