Question Pana 42pv60 vs 42pv600 -- video processing chipset differences

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here could help me answer my question as i frikkin googl'd like mad but i don't rly find the answer...

For all clarity pv60=px60, pv600=px600, only difference is a digital tuner vs analogue.... i think

I was planning on buying the 42pv60 until very recently, as i was under the impression that the only difference with the 600 were: speakers / SD reader / nicer design (and i am not paying 600 € more for just those things ).

But now i found there is one more difference:
pv60: 1080i DIGITAL PROCESSING CHIP-SET
pv600: 1080p Digital Processing Chip-Set & 1080p Digital Re-Mastering Processor

I've read quite a bit on interlacing, progressive, deinterlacing, external video processing chipsets, 2:3 dropdown, frame flags,... I'm not saying i know alot now, but I DO know that this video processing thingy MIGHT be worth the extra 600€... if only i knew the difference....

Can anyone enlighten me on the chipset differences of these 2 sets?
And by all means, don't hesitate to get technical on my ass

Tnx,
Weumel

They both have digital tuners. Differences are well documented in the plasma forum (and match what you thought) and afaik both screens can take 1080p and both screens do not do 3:2 reversal or proper 1080i deinterlacing

Re: Pana 42pv60 vs 42pv600 -- video processing chipset differences

Yeah, i read already that the video processing chipset of plasma`s just don't cut it... Was therefore planning on doing all the deinterlacing and scaling in my htpc (or get myself a nice Oppo like yourself ). Then i guess it doesn't matter if the pannel has a 1080i or 1080p video processing chipset.

Although i still would realy like to understand what the exact difference is between the 2 (i knowwhat 1080i and 1080p are, but what their respective video processing chipsets do... )

And yeah, i got a bit mixed up there, the PX series has DVB digital tuner and the PV series doesnt. This is correct, ye?
