Has anyone had good experiences buying the Region 0 (Asian?) DVDs on sale on eBay? Are these DVDs generally recognised as genuine releases or are they mostly assumed to be ripped off pirate copies with fake English dubbing?

I never use e bay, but I can tell you that once a dvd is copied it becomes Region 0.
If you are not sure if the movie that you intend to buy has a R0 release, check this website first.

99.9% of "region 0" discs sold on Ebay are most definitely counterfeit. Genuine region 0 discs would include some of the Criteron releases and documentaries and the like. Add "genuine asian import" to the description and it is practically guaranteed to be a dodgy copy, especially if it is a recent release. My advice would be to check out a site selling the real things and compare.

Tartan release some of there movies in the UK as R0, but I agree that most
R0's on e bay are likely copies.

Are Asian releases not mainly R1 and R3 anyway?

Yes, DVD's released in the Asian continent are mostly R3.
I was referring to the Asian movies, not area.
