Sony rdr-hxd860 problems

Bought this machine recently, nice thing really.
But, when doing a timed record for BBC1 or 2 it records from 800 and 801 channel which is blank in my region. I have tried hiding those channels etc but to no avail.
Cannot delete those channels either.
Do I take the machine back?
Wife is giving me grief over it as I paid a little more for the EPG version in the shop!
Manual programming does not work for these channels as it flips to 800 and 801, other channels work spot on.
Life is getting hard now!
