wooden board behind plasma

Hi people,

I have seen on here that alot of forummer's photos, they have used a wooden board behind their plasma. I have a flat wall with a fireplace and will be wallmounting my panasonic 42px60.

What is the best wood to use? Would it affect the wall bracket bolts?

Can you buy them ready made? Will it help hide cables even more?

I will also have the yamaha av59 alongside with the satellite speakers.

Any replies are greatly welcome.

Kind regards

Waq

Re: wooden board behind plasma

Most do this or have it done for them because they do not have a solid wall to fix their plasmas too. They have either drylined or stud walls.

Unless this applies in your case you don't really need a piece of wood behind your plasma.

If you have a traditionally plastered brick wall (or chimney breast) you can fix your bracket directly to it.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking of doing it for aesethetic purposes as I have a cream wall and the silver panny screen may look bland. I was hoping a brown background or something similar will make it more prominent to look at.

I have a brick wall and won't have any problem hanging up the plasma on my wall.
