What happens to movies that have different distributors, in different regions, that support one HD format over another?

For example Crank is a LionsGate movie, and as they are in the BR camp it has been released on BR in the US.

However in the UK the DVD was distributed by Universal. Does this mean the UK will get it on HD-DVD, or will we not get it in any HD format?

As stated by the others the title may well crop up on the other format. And the beauty of HD DVD here is it is region free
