Arcam AVR Amp Range - Question

Hi World

I have shortlisted the AVR 250 300 350 as the ideal amp to marry up to a dv29.......

due to christmas being so expensive i was hoping to source a good conditioned 2nd hand amp

does anyone know of anyone selling or a good place to buy 2nd hand arcam kit?

i plan to put an ad in the wanted forums - but i thought i'd try here as someone may know of an amp thats available?

regards

Danny

The only place I could recommend a 2nd hand Arcam AVR is here I reckon. A well known auction site tends to get a lot of fake auctions for Arcam and musical fidelity. Very unhappy that it doesn't get sorted on a permanent basis, but these 2 manufacturers seem to be the biggest minefield there.

Highly recommend the trading forums here. Tend to appear every few weeks and normally can get for a good price and imho it's safer, nothing to do with me being a mod(unpaid of course). search there and get an idea of prices for completed sales etc and go from there.

I have only been impressed and very well looked after by AV Forums thus far and have sourced some nice kit here already from like-minded decent people....and yes the 'e' word always scares me.........as i have been ripped off in the early days and that is still bitter!..........so great to shall look out and hope my 'wanted' advert does the trick.......

Ta for the guidance

Danny

Re: Arcam AVR Amp Range - Question

AVR100 is quite a bit of a lower model. The AVR200's supposed to be quite good, but my understanding is the AVR250 was a great improvement over the AVR200.

The AVR250 and above are also 7.1, which allows you to use 5.1 with fronts biwired in a 5.1 system (which made a large positive sound to the sound for me and others here), or you can use the extra 2 channels configured as a seperate zone which I believe can run a seperate input at the same time Zone 1 is being used (Great for a bedroom as Zone 2 etc).

If you can stretch to current Arcam AVR series I'd suggest go that route if you can, I absolutely love my AVR250 to bits. Still, there are bargains to be had on earlier models.

Re: Arcam AVR Amp Range - Question

SSAV in southampton have a new AVR250 in silver for £799, not too far away from you and its new.

You can probably find something cheaper second hand but if you just want to go and get one that sounds like a good bet.

Audio T in Reading have ex-dem an AVR250 and 300 for £799.00 and £1039.00, just up the road from you really so if you have issues you can take it back.

Good luck finding what your looking for

All,
Please note that trading is to be done on the trading forum only and not on thread outside the trading forums.

Please read the trading rules found Here

and place an advert in the trading forum once you understand trading rules.

If posting an advert and specifically want to give Danny_1968 first refusal, please state clearly in the advert.

Welcome to the forum smitherfish, don't worry - it's no big thing at all the edit to your post, I just needed to make you aware of how the trading forums work and the best method for you to sell your item.

Hope this helps.

If posting a for sale ad in the forums (read trading rules first), then PM Danny_1968 with the thread link, or drop the link in this thread for now.

£600 for an AVR300 sounds like a good deal.

Dan.
