Forget alpine.... i guess the shinco and alco are the cheap chinese players that have been speculated about being released? or are these chinese market specific products?

Shinco and Alco need to be added to LiteOn and Jiangkui (the MS reference there)

I would have thought the very thin profile of an optical disc makes for treacherous loss of grip in wet conditions.

Interesting looks like the sub £200 HD-DVD players are well on the way

It would be a brave studio CEO to ignore HD-DVD when these hit tescos.

HD-DVD is definitely the better option as its grooves are set deeper

To be fair there is a point. Sure you get very little if any benefit watching HD on an 8" screen. However if you are now only buying HD discs then they won't play in your car unless you have a HD player.

Personally though If I'd paid for the HD version of a movie, I'd have no moral problems in downloading a dodgy version of the dvd for the car. Although I have no desire to watching movies in my car anyway.
