So what's to see and who's going?

If the Sim2 room is like the What HiFi London show, then I can highly recommend it.
Last year it was a total surprise to see so many projectors.
There was the ProjectionDesign, Optoma and a few others dotted about, but it's really hard to look at the exhibitor list and work out what's going to be there.

Anyway - I'll be going whatever - it's always a good day out.

This was a great day out last year and seeing the projectors on show there convinced me to get one for home, but not one of the £15,000 Sim2's that were on show.

I'll be there looking at everything I wish I could afford!

The new Pronto Professional will be on show in The AudioWorks room - 428.

You'll be able to get your hands on the new colour panel (TSU9600) and see the WiFi and RS232 remote extenders in operation as well as look at the edit software. I'll be on hand to answer questions and show the product working.

I think they're taking some of their Optoma dem gear, but I don't believe they're expecting anyone from Optoma at the show.

Very good show, most enjoyable day out, Sim2 was spot on! Worth the wait.

Only 2 dissapointments.

1 - No show shop, where was that??????? Had a good response from show organiser, no show shop due to Sevenoaks not having suitable quantity of stock. No probs with that.
2 - Food and drink was ultra expensive as per last year

Otherwise a good day out, parking opposite was much better.

Roll on Bristol less than 4 weeks to go.

Yep - I had a good time too.
The AudioWorks always have some great demos - really enjoyed the JBL horns! They were a big surprise to me.
Sim2 are definitely the masters of projector dems - they don't reveal much, (all high-bitrate HD material) but they make sure you leave thinking that they are the top tier of pjs.
I saw them at the What HiFi show in November and it was great to see that they'd changed all the clips/trailers so it was all quite fresh.

I was hoping to see the HT3000 - but it's always difficult to evaluate when seen in isolation with no control over the material.

Saw the little Epson tw1000 too - quite a pleasing image, but I was surprised at just how much screendoor was visible. I don't think that I could live with it at my viewing distances. Maybe the upcoming tw1000 will solve that - they were talking of a low £2000s price point.

It was nice to see the Meridian MF1 pj case as it looked amazing and must surely be the same as the JVC. Shame it wasn't running.

The other PJ which impressed was the little projectiondesign Action! Model 2 showing a BRD of some jazz sessions. Very nice, but surely due a price-cut.
Side by side with the Sim2 domino would be interesting.

My first time seeing the Sqeezeboxes in the flesh too - they look really nice.

Can't make up my mind about Bristol - it's £75 worth of fuel for me + entry, parking, etc. Might not go this year unless someone points out something unmissable

This show was much better than the one at the Renaissance. Lots of setups that were very impressive both two and multichannel. Agree about the Action Model Two that was great for the money but were the clips HD?

I only saw "Ledgends of Jazz: Showcase" on Blu-ray (therefore HD) on the model 2. Don't know if they were showing different things through the days.

It's nearly impossible to get a feel for SD processing at shows these days as they are pretty wise to using Uvem's/BRD/HD DVD/etc.

It's easy to see why though - the Optoma HD81 was showing SD when I was in there and it was difficult to be impressed compared to the other PJs showing HD.

I went with my Dad who was looking at projectors whilst I was looking for AV speakers. Didn't see a lot there for the AV fan but did see the Sim2 demo and the Tannoy/Action demo. The Sim2 demo was good but not outstanding. I think familiarity with HD material means that I don't get that same Wow factor I got watching 1080p on a Qualia 18 months ago. As good as the Domino is, I don't see a percieve a massive difference to my TX200. Certainly not as massive as the price difference - and that's the entry level. With a growing batch of well regarded budget 1080p pj's at around £3ks its going to be a tough sell. Sim2s could do with being a bit quieter too. The big three chipper is..well...big. It convinced me I really want to go to cinemascope. Nice bonus getting to see a Da-lite maked screen. The sound didn't really impress me. I was expecting a lot from the PMC's but the ceiling tiles had other ideas.

I did enjoy the Tannoy demo. The Action pj was really impressive for such a tiny box and the Tannoy 300s were an easy listen and have made it onto my shortlist. I would like to hear a broader range of material on them.
