Rotel learning remote dying - what to do?

The Rotel RR-969 remote which came with my processor seems to be dying. I use it to control everything, but recently its started exhibiting all sorts of problems (freezes, looping etc). New batteries etc no good.

So I have 3 questions if anyone can help:-

1. Is there anything I can do to salvage this remote?

2. Does anyone know a good place to try to source a replacement (I understand that the equivalent remote is note the Rr-1050), but can't see any ebay listings or shops listing this.

3. Should I go for a different remote? I am happy otherwise with the Rotel one which I've taught my DVD, Freeview box, TV and lights as well. Would prefer not to have to spend hundreds on teh whizzy ones and I think I'd prefer real buttons (can't imagine using touchscreen with no feedback).

Thanks
Stuart
