Hi,

In the process of a Lounge Cinema DIY job, and in-between decisions on putting a single socket behind the TV for the power lead or running it in trunking (chased into wall) to the nearest double socket (seperate to AV cables mind). Don't really want to put one behind the tele, only to move home in a couple of years and leave the next people with a very ugly and awkwardly placed single socket!

OK. What is the best way to do it - socket spur, flex spur, or run power chord in trunking from nearest socket?

I dont think chasing the wall for a horrible trunkin would be your best option since your worried bout a single socket,since you dont want to put a permanent socket why dont you get a 2 or 4 gang (or whatever size you need) extension lead and bang a few small white clips on to the skirting.plug it into nearest outlet

In my opinion its way nicer than trunkin in your own house .Trunkin is very shabby for a comfy lived in house.You can always go back to trunkin idea if it doesnt work

I just realised you were goin to bury the trunkin but personaly wouldnt chase a wall for that wats described above would suit me and im an electrician (a lazy one)

What you could do, which is very similar to what I have done except mine was through stud wall.I got about 3 metres of flex, threaded it through the stud (in conduit) and out at low level behind a unit where I fitted a plug to go into a surge protector.
Where the cable came out behind the tv I fitted a double box for the cables to exit but if you dont want to do that just exit your cable from the trunking out the wall and use a 13 amp cable connector box to connect the flex to your tv flex.Job done
