Replacement for a Harmony 885

Well, Amazon have just refused to replace my 2nd 885 that has a reboot/charging issue. Looks like they've had too many issues with them so its a refund

I need to find a replacement (by yesterday ) as my wife is giving me serious grief. Thing is she wont have an LCD touchscreen after a Marantz RC5400 nightmare. We would be happy for another Harmony but like the colour LCD and look and feel of the 885. I'm thinking the 895 is going to have the same cradle/performance issues as the 885

Can anyone reccomend me a suitable replacement or put me right on the 895's non issues ?

Re: Replacement for a Harmony 885

Hi, I have serious and very annoying charging issues with 895 as well, so I cannot recommend it to you

Re: Replacement for a Harmony 885

Many thanks for that, I assumed they would have the same issues, its basically the same remote except for the RF, and at £50 more expensive Im not going to waste my money !

Im gutted tho, we loved the functionality of the Harmony. I bought my dad a 525 and he loves it but I find it too flimsy/poorly made for everyday use. Anyone reccomend another Harmony without the issues of the 885 and with "hand friendly" ergonomics and buttons ?

The 688 or 785 for instance ?

Re: Replacement for a Harmony 885

Why not ring Harmony support instead of Amazon? I had a charging problem with my Harmony and Logitech sent me out a new Cradle and Battery.

I had the same charging issue, and they had sent me 2 new cradles and plugs within 2 weeks!

Re: Replacement for a Harmony 885

OMG I am glad I found this thread. I have muddled along with the cradle. I love the remote to bits but the beeping through the night as it loses contact and regains it is very frustrating. Was this the same problem you guys had where it just about had a connection but didn't always work?

I may well give Logitech a ring if so cos I love this remote. Worked striaght off with Sky HD today without having to set it up again.

Re: Replacement for a Harmony 885

well, since I wedged the battery in (at the base (approx 2 mm gap) so it forces the contacts together) mine sits and charges first time every time and it doesnt reboot itself any more

Worth a go !

I would reccomend a Home theater MX-500.
In my opinion it is far better than my 885.
The only problem is you have to import from the USA as no one seems to stock them here now.
