Wirless device required.
I have all my music on a file server in wav format, and connected to my home network. Also in my network i have a wireless router for laptops, etc.
Now, i want some kind of wireless portable device that can access my files over the wireless, so i can listen to them in the garage.
Doesn't have to be great quality, just need some tunes in the garage while i'm doing my DIY.
Ideas and suggestions people, please!
As for budget.....cheaper the better

Re: Wirless device required.
Pinnacle Soundbridge radio? - £299
It's the only one I can think of that'll play WAV.

I've also been looking for a good sounding solution for my Kitchen...

That was the only one I came up with but I thought the price a little excessive for the features. For that Money I'd want DAB & CD player as well as Streaming Media.
Had anyone tried one... The name "Pinnacle" on it makes me a little Nervous, have they bought Roku out?

Will any remote remote player be able to gain any track information (ID3 Tags) from a WAV? Wouldn't a lossless encoder (APE, Flac etc) be more convenient?
Mark.

Re: Wirless device required.
Pinnacle/Roku/Evesham Soundbridge...it's all the same product, just different branding. I believe Pinnacle distribute Roku over here, and have all the products rebranded.
I know what you mean about the price, however, it is supposed to be a very good sounding product (I'm yet to actually take the time to get one out and listen to it). I also agree that having a DAB radio would make it much better value.

Re: Wirless device required.
The Roku is the only one I can think of which will play WAV and has a speaker built in.
It might be easier to think about having a second music library for the garage in something a bit more compatible, that way you could look at the Terratec Noxon iRadio, MagicBox Imp Radio and AE Wifi Radio

Re: Wirless device required.
If you've got an iPod, why not go for an iPod dock?
PC World are advertising a Logik IR100 Internet Radio, which will also stream from your PC, but it doesn't realy mention audio compatability, other than MP3
You could have a look at the AE wi fi radio - that may support AAC

Re: Wirless device required.
The Logik one looks very similar to the Noxon iRadio, so I imagine the specs will be pretty similar too
The AE/Magicbox may well be worth a look, although the ipod dock would seem easiest in this case

Fair enough...but if you do decide to risk it, Amazon are doing the fantastic Monitor Audio Ideck for only £80. Bit of a steal really!
Or Sony have just released details of this:
http://wireless.engadget.com/2007/01...ough-the-home/
US only at the moment, but looks like it'll play AAC. $350, so I would expect it to be about £300 over here.

This looks like it'll play AAC, and stream internet radio, all over the wireless. Will investigate further.
Thanks.

Re: Wirless device required.
It is also worth checking the MagicBox Imp Radio which is essentially the same thing in a different box with a slightly inferior speaker, but it is £50 cheaper
