If I can find one at work tomorrow, I'll get someone to measure it.

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

dave,

I got one of these from AAMZOn last week and I will measure mine for your if you want but I would say bewarer mine is going back double quick as it is atrocious

The picture is unacceptably dark even when brightness setting is maximised and contrast adjusted.
The picture moves out of focus periodically.
The picture shakes vertically by 1-2 mm - NB this is not, ‘50Hz flicker’ but a separate problem with this set.
Reproduction of any text - menus, EPG and ‘in programme’ - is so unclear that it is unreadable and causes painful eyestrain virtually immediately if one tries.

All the above problems occur regardless of input source i.e. digital - satellite and freeview, analogue and DVD.

There are large, fixed, areas of the screen that are dull and clouded (this fault is often termed ‘dirty screen' and is often attributed to problems with the CRT’s Shadow Mask). These areas are clearly visible on both the TV’s internally generated blue backgrounds (unused AV inputs generate plain blue backgrounds on this set) and pictures generated from all other inputs.

AMAZON seem to =be accepting the return but are saying I pay for postage on both retrun adn original del;ivery as thye say it was not thier error!!

Beware AMAZON

Anyway if you want me to measure this piece of ***t let me know

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

Hi mate,

Bought it from Empire so shouldn't have much issue returning it if its no good. Give it a whirl first!

What are you getting instead?

If you could measure it that would be great (width and depth are most important)

Cheers
Dave

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

The tape measure is down in the back room and baby and wife are next door asleep so if I go and get it she will kill me if baby wakes - I will measure it tommorow in the am and post results for you tomorow night.

Debating wether or not to just go for LCD at 26" and hope I get used to it or try either

DUB 2850 but i'm not sure if there are any left or
Tosh 28Z47B /MV28Z which it seems Currys have

To be honest I am sick as a parrot and just don't know - anyone know anything about Tosh 28Z47B I read one pretty good review but Curry's scare me !!!!! Anyway need the dosh back from AMAZON before anything happens.

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

Oops wife has just arrived in study, baby is asleep so she got tape measure for me - so my JVC is

758mm wide at max point round front of frame and 488mm deep - these are real tight measurements to the frame with no allowance made, so watch out if that's a tight fit.

Good luck with yours my freind and let me know how you get on if you don't mind.

Yeah you'd think that, but it does nothing. I've had it for 6 years now and got used to it :D Its such a good monitor I can forgive it that.

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

Dave,

You mentioned your getting from Empire is that Empire Direct.co.uk and are you sure they are ok with returns if PQ is not up to scratch? I ask cause if you do get a good JVC from them I might try again or try the Philips 28PW6451 they have on their site but I ould like to know I am ok if I get a dud!

Fighting the LCD tide but think I may be losing!!!

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

Aye its Empiredirect.co.uk (who are owned by Empire the catalogue). You'd hope that they would comply with the usual returns systems. I used the 7-day return policy when I sent my LCD back (rubbish things for SD TV).

Re: Jvc AV28T5 users - whats the width!

Had the TV for a while now and for me its great, I find with large CRT's its better if you sit further away.

Sure, this TV aint perfect, if I was being overly critical I would like less flicker, and at close range the left & right edges aren't as defined as the centre but that goes away if you sit further back.

This will do me for now, until I decide whats next
