News provider recommendations

Lo all.
As per title, I need some recommendations for a NNTP provider. I need plenty of download allowance, with a good reliability record. Probably no more than about 100gigs per month, usually less than 20-30 gig.

Would like cheap, but happy to pay for service too!

Re: News provider recommendations

Been thinking about getting a full account with Giganews. I get a speed limited one through my ISP (1.6mpbs) but during the Christmas --> New Years holidays they took the speed limit off and I was downloading at rates of 12mbps!

Re: News provider recommendations

Try www.newshosting.com or www.giganews.com , both are highly recommended with excellent retention and completion. Also the $ is at a great rate for us UK peeps which helps with prices

Re: News provider recommendations

Try randori

http://www.flashnewsgroups.com

$9.99 a month for 25 gigs

or

$12.99 a month unlimited

(a bit cheaper than most of "top" news providers)

ive been using them for over two years, with no problem in service (due to when i joined i only pay about £3.97 a month after conversion from us dollars)

There is, but you will find that it is VERY slow (coz its free).
If you want to download alot of "news" then go with a paid site.
I pay £10 a month for unlimited, but need to keep it under control as Orange dont like me downloading lots.

LOADS of info here :

Newsgroups - downloading files and stuff!!

Re: News provider recommendations

I just switched voer to Eclipse from newnet, and find they are utter useless for accessing newshosting, i got 700k/sec dls from them for the last 2 years from nildram/newnet, switched to eclipse and i get under 1mbit speed from newhosting, any1 know if this is a known problem with eclipse, p.s ive tried the other ports newshosting say.

Re: News provider recommendations

I'm with Giganews and couldn't be happier. I used to be with Easynews, but I found their retention was quite poor. Not had any problems so far with giganews.
