Basic arcam setup.

Hiya guys.

After getting rid of my denon setup when I went to University, i've decided to slowly build up a University setup on a bit of a budget.

Always loved arcam stuff, love the design and the sound and when I can afford it, i'll build up a proper arcam system but for now, i'm working on a budget!

I'm running some Monitor Audio S5s at the front for the time being. And was looking at picking up an AVR100 and possibly a DV88 or DV88+ for the right price. Could somebody possibly tell me the difference between the two? I know the DV88 does a very good picture for the price, and i'll be feeding it into possibly an earlier model panasonic projector.

Will also be putting in a Nintendo Wii into the AVR100.

Obviously i'm on a budget, but do you think this'll be a good little setup for the time being? Will mainly be used for DVDs, CDs, Music from my iMac and a Nintendo Wii.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's very exciting building up a setup from scratch and searching the forum for bargains. Heh.

Scott

Also, what's a fair price to pay for a AVR100 second hand?

Re: Basic arcam setup.

My brother got an AVR100 a few years back, just as the 200 came out - great piece of kit and still performs well for him now.

Can't imagine they're worth that much now though are they?

That's good to hear. I know they're a bit old now, but I don't want to pay over the going rate for one. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Basic arcam setup.

Don't think avr100's are very pricey. Think about £200 seems in recent memory for last one I saw sold. I may be wrong.
I'd expect a 2nd hand AVR250 to go for about £575-£600, so base the AVR200 somewhere between the 2 prices.

Dan.
