Using Harmony with Tape Monitor input on audio amp

OK, I have a new Arcam amp (very nice it is too) and I'm trying to get my Harmony 885 to work it properly.

It has a bunch of inputs (CD, tuner etc) each with a discrete "input" command on the remote so you can select the right one easily, no problem.

However like many audio amps it has a "Tape Monitor" function which operates independently, and for some of my Activities I need to use the Tape input (too long a story to go into here).

So (simplifying slightly) I have Activity 1 which needs the CD input, and Activities 2 and 3 which need the Tape input.

Now, if I just tell the the Harmony that A1 needs the CD input it doesn't always work - it will need to send "Tape" if the last activity was A2 or A3. Just sending "select CD input" doesn't get you anywhere, as the Tape monitor selection is independent of the main input selection.

The only workaround I've found so far is a bit kludgy: it means that for A2 and A3 I have told the Harmony that I don't need to select input on the Amplifier - and have then manually inserted a "Tape" command in the startup and shutdown sequence for each of these activities.

Have I missed anything? Any better ideas out there?

TIA

Re: Using Harmony with Tape Monitor input on audio amp

Sounds right to me mate.
I've done the same with all my commands for my TV as it's a nightmare trying to get it to the correct input when switching activities.

I've also added commands to the Custom Buttons so I can always switch TV channel or the amp setting without having to switch to each device.
