Ipod remote or dock or both

Hi,

I have the Ipod 80gb Video. I have a home automation system hard wired into my house. The 'hub' of the system can connect my IPOD via the normal AV cables. I can watch my IPOD slideshows etc on any TV in the house and play music through the speakers in each room.

What I want to know, is how can I operate the IPOD via a remote control? Do I need a docking station or can I just buy a remote (which would you recommend). At the moment, I have to run downstairs to change the playlist etc when it has finished.

Thanks for help, Happy New Year.

Re: Ipod remote or dock or both

The official docking station and remote is useless you can only use next and forward plus volume up and down. The menu option does not work. You might be better off getting a third party station that does everything the apple station should.

By the way welcome.
