Post iPod Nano (2nd Gen) - A Personal Review

Just posted the review of the latest iPod. The review also deals with the upmarket headphones as well as an outboard battery powered portable amplifier as an option with the player. The review also includes photos of all the products to support the text.

I hope it is found useful. If you have any comments please feel free to express them here, I will be happy to participate in the discussion. Constructive criticism is also very welcome.

Thanks for looking

Re: iPod Nano (2nd Gen) - A Personal Review

Many thanks for the insight. Im just about sold on the 4gb nano for walking to work, running etc. Nice to see a mix of straightforward opinions and a little bit of technical detail.

Id never thought about battery life with different headphones. Ive heard that the bundled ones were pretty terrible so was planning to purchase something a little more capable.

Im also tempted to get a pair of Grado SR60 phone for listening at home.

Many thanks again

Glad the article was of help to you, thanks for the appreciation

As for upmarket headphones you need to narrow down your choice after carefully considering two points. One being comfortable and which stays on your head while you are active, and secondly to choose a type which does not leak the sound out when you are on the go as it can be very disturbing to fellow commuters. The PX100 and PX200 are very similar ones except one is open and the other is closed type. I would never use PX 100 while on the go as it is not the correct choice. PX 200 is more suitable. Sound quality wise you will find the PX 100 is praised a lot more across the web and on some exclusive sites dealing with headphones.

As for the Grado SR60, it is not only a very popular pair of cans but also considered on the bright side. Some like it a lot and some cannot tolerate it. Rock fans love it. It is also not a good choice at far as comfort goes for many. I am not trying to discourage you from getting them, just thought you should know what to expect from them. It would be ideal if you could get to listen to them before making a commitment if possible. If comfort level is high on your agenda, Sennheiser has the best reputation.

Good Luck

Re: iPod Nano (2nd Gen) - A Personal Review

Thanks for the info, sound leakage isnt really a problem as Id really only be using them at home (I need to get a different pair for running etc. but thats for another thread ).

I tend to listen to quite a lot of rock music in all honesty and I must confess that the wealth of possitive reviews ive seen for the Grado's makes them very tempting. My tastes are quite varied, classical, chillout although I stay away from rap & dance. I like music to be crisp and clean although from there I doubt I'd notice too much else. I could probably tell the difference between different headphones but probably not say that one was better than the other, i suppose thats all down to the listener.

I'll try to demo some first just to make sure.

Thanks again
