What do you call??

I had a head unit years ago from clarion that didnt have an in built amp needed external amps for it and cant remember what they called these classes of head units.Its top spec stuff and i payed £700 for mine bk in 98/99 so ide imagine they are still expensive but cant seem to find any now as ive been out the 'scene' for a while.

I always thought the were know as component head unit's...
