Reduce AVR dynamic range without OSD?

I am very happy with my AVR250 upgrade from a Sony STR-DB930, but wondered if there is any way to set the dynamic range limiter with the CR80 remote (eg for late night viewing) without using the on screen display (OSD)? The only way I can use the the OSD on my current Sony 32" CRT is by running a lead from the AVR in to the front of the TV, a bit clunky.

Thanks if you have any thoughts.

Jaunty

PS - I do miss not being able to name inputs on the Arcam to whatever I want (eg change VCR to iTunes) like on my ancient Sony!

Re: Reduce AVR dynamic range without OSD?

I have looked through the manual and there does not seem to be a discrete code available even to program into a learning remote for this function.

That said, if you familiarise yourself with the menu layout there is no reason why you cannot activate this feature by navigating using the front panel display. For example just by reading the manual I can figure that you would need to press the following:

1. Press 'Menu'
2. Press 'Right'
3. Press 'Down'
4. Use 'Left' and 'Right' buttons to switch between compression settings.
5. Press 'Menu' to exit once you have finish selecting the option you want.

It's really not that difficult.

Re: Reduce AVR dynamic range without OSD?

Thanks a lot makes sense I'll give it a go. Not sure the other half will catch on though!

Re: Reduce AVR dynamic range without OSD?

works a treat using the remote and it is clearly confirmed on the AVR display as you do it. Thanks again

I'm glad to be of help. You know where I am electronically and geographically if you need any other help with Arcam or otherwise.

Re: Reduce AVR dynamic range without OSD?

Cheers. The first owner of my AVR250 was actually a dentist who lives in Edinburgh, so you could well have actually supplied my unit
