Is it just the software you don't like about the Sony?

They are usually really strong on sound quality.

The Creative ones are usually quite good.

Just buy an ipod nano and be done with it! Some might disagree but personally speaking I think itunes is superb.

You must not be reading the software problems with itunes on the new ipod..............

buy a Samsung Z5 and be done with it..........no mucking about with software, it just sits on your pc like a removeable drive/flashcard and you do the good old drag and drop......simplicity itself. Great sound, great battery life 35+ hrs, user replaceable battery, brilliant build quality and constant upgrades keep this ahead of the pack IMO. OGG files, Gapless playback, user definable equaliser, evrything you could want. Read what others are saying on this very forum !

The downside is the 4Gb limit, but for most people that is enough. The criteria of downloading all your albums disappears when you actualy have to do it. Put on 100 albums and use it, change them when you get bored.

I think you will be lucky to get a second hand H100 series player for under £100.

My iHP 140 is almost 3 years old now and the Samsung, iPods and Creatives I've listened to in the meantime do not sound any better.

You may be able to get the H10 20GB for close to your budget. It has recently been discontinued, but there are some new models on eBay.

Oops - shouldn't have nipped to kitchen before posting.

Good choice and one of the few manufacturers to still have UMS functionality which I prefer. I love file tree browsing and I wish more MP3 players would have this.

It just enables you to view the folders as you would in Windows Explorer. I find this more logical and allows greater flexibility rather then fiddling with ID3 tags, that's just me though!

Do not buy a Creative Zen 20gb I have one and the driver has not been updated in over a year and the firmware over two years. Plus the no support for it in WMP11, works with winamp though.

I think you would be better off with a player that just works like a drive so you can drag and drop.
