Speaker Question - ipod nano 8gb

Hi,

Just got a new 2nd gen ipod nano 8gb, and I want to play it in my bedroom. I want good sound quality, but I'm no expert.

I was considering the Monitor ideck
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monitor-Audi...&s=electronics
but will I be able to get the same, if not better, sound simply by hooking the ipod to some speakers such as these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...=19Y4XGQTMJEZV

I'm struggling to see the benefit of the first option, aside from the remote control and it's twice the price!

Has anyone got any recommendations? Maybe buying a hi-fi would a better option? I'm looking to spend up to £100, but preferably less

Thanks

Re: Speaker Question - ipod nano 8gb

The Monitor Audio Ideck is considered to be the best sounding iPod dock you can buy, and that was when it was £180.

At £80 it's a steal.

If you want something simply to play music with your iPod, and want the best sound quality, it's the one to go for (just make sure you can use it with the new Nano)

Re: Speaker Question - ipod nano 8gb

Cheers for that, I always assumed you'd sacrifice sound quality for full ipod compatability but obviously not. Just a shame it's not so cheap in black.

Re: the new nano compatability, according to this they send out a bevel free, so happy days

Sub £100 mipod *Nano* Dock required - Please help

Think I'll order one next week. AlthoughI'd be interested if anyone has any other opinions on what to go for?

Cheers

Re: Speaker Question - ipod nano 8gb

If you're feeling really flush, you could go for the Fatman iValve £299, plus you'll need to add some speakers (or £499 with some Tannoys)

http://www.fat-man.co.uk/docs/product/itube_1.htm

Really nice and a bit different, but I'm guessing more that you'll be wanting to pay.

I'm considering Aego M from SuperFi, to use with my MP3 player and notebook.

They are within your price range and get excellent reviews.

Re: Speaker Question - ipod nano 8gb

I have just bought the Monitor Audio I-Deck Plus; the latest model and bit of an impulse buy to be honest. Very pleased with the sound quality; and it's British! The previous standard I-Deck does not have the radio but at £80 from Amazon it's a bargain.
