For a few years now I have had a Casio QV-2900UX point and shoot. It is good at taking macros despite only being 2M

Then a month ago I decided to gey myself a Nikon D50. Along with the kit lens I decided to get a Sigma 70-300 APO which I thought would complement the kit lens nicely. So far I have not been disappointed

Fascinating Mike: :smashin:
Are all these taken with the D50 and Sigma or just the last 4?
Given the f4 limits of the 70- 300 you had to have used a tripod
They are all well exposed sharp and colourful:
Good stuff
I see that you actively seek the little animals that dont live in your own house and garden:rotfl:

Thanks senu, only the last 4 were taken with D50 and Sigma 70-300, all hand held. The others were with the Casio P&S, also hand held. The difference is that the caterpillar and aphid was taken from about 1.5 m away, whereas the frog was from about 10mm. This should let me get some shots before the beastie/bug runs/flies away. Roll on summer!!

With the impending arrival of my "proper" macro lens (Tamron 90mm) from Onestop Digital, I am practising my macro shooting with the Sigma 70-300 APO.
Pity about the background in this Comma butterfly:

Same with this Peacock:

This Large White is not as colourful, but nicer surroundings:

A rather tattered Small White. These white butterflies sure are hard to expose correctly. Thank god for raw and ACR!

This Funnel Web spider built it's web in a corner of my house where 2 outside walls meet at 90 deg. Note the camouflage on the web. This is no relation to the poisonous Aussie variety, and is harmless to humans.

These jumping spiders are hard to shoot because they constantly move.

Hi ya
Some nice shot there again:thumbsup: . Let us know how you get on with the Tamron 90mm, as it is one off the lens I am looking at.
Cheers Holo:smashin: :smashin:
Spendid as usual Mike::smashin:
You sure the Sigma's going to be redundant??
Given that the 70- 300 only does macro beyond 200, Your view point for your "little friends" will be different
