Do I buy HD-DVD/Blu ray player or wait?

Hello everyone

As the title suggets I'm just about to purchase a plasma tv, sky hd and a dvd player, so what's the best dvd player to buy hd or blu ray or am I better off waiting?

Just buy it an enjoy it. If you are really really unsure - get consoles and use them for hd playback.

r1 = Region 1 = Discs from USA

steeleez, the HD DVD/BluRay markets are very new at present - the players are not very refined and the list of titles available on each format is relatively small. If your happy with that then the new formats offer picture and sound quality far in excess of what DVD offers and will push a HDTV plasma to it's limits.

What sort of budget are you looking at for your purchases? You're obviously buying a screen so that should be your major concern at present (IMHO). I would suggest seeking advice on the Plasma Forum. I would say HD DVD and/or BluRay are purchases post that. Just state when asking what panels to go for that you intend to use high def sources and look for HDMI connectivity (preferrably at least two sockets).

My heart says to Buy both and my Mind says to Wait !!!
Sony PS3 for Blu-ray and the one and only Toshiba HD-XA2/XF-2 for HD-DVD would be the ideal choice.

to be honest what ever format you go for,it will be good
just remember HD-DVD has no region coding but some BLU-RAY titles do

Or you could buy a reasonably priced upscaling DVD player and wait till the 'war' is won.
