Toshiba DR-160 grainy/pixelated picture over component

I have recently connected my DR160 with a new component lead (previously used a scart) into my Tosh 37WLT66 and to be honest although the blacks are better, the overall picture appears 'grainy' to me which isn't what I was expecting.

If anything the picture over scart (and it wasn't even RGB as the lcd only has one RGB scart and I used that fo rmy SKY+) was better. The image over component seems to be pixelated or grainy particularly in lighter scenes - eg I watched Minority Report tonight and the film has a lot of scenes at the start of the film that are white/greys/black and these showed up a lot of pixelation in the light areas.

Any thoughts? My component cable is an IXOS XHV704.
