My DVD player has gone barmy.

When swithched on either by Remote or Manual it shows coloured diagonal lines flowing across the TV screen. All the functions of the player works and also a DVD whatever it might be, plays in the background with the fuzzy lines and clear sound.

Does this mean its ready for the bin or can it be repaired.

I take it from the lack of response, that no one has had this kind of fault with their Player no matter what make it is.
