Xbox 360 - Lumagen HDP Walkthrough Please

Hi all

I am pretty good at setting up my system until it comes to the Lumagen HDP! I have just purchased an XBOX 360 but am at a loss as to how to configure the HDP to incorperate it into my system.

At the moment I am using both component inputs on the HDP, one for my Sky+ and one for my DVD player. I understand each input has 4 seperate memories and as such I can use my processor to switch video signal to one of the inputs.

So what I am going to do is as follows:

DVD player to remain as is.... (input 3)

Sky+ to be re-routed into AV8 input (component input)

Xbox 360 to be routed into AV8 input (component input)

AV8 component output to be routed into input 4 on Lumagen HDP

This is where I get stuck!!! I'm guessing that all that needs to be set up will be the XBOX 360 feed from the AV8 as the Sky+ plus feed is already set up and will be auto detected accordingly.

I would be grateful if someone could do me a walkthrough to set up the XBOX 360 as its sitting there..... taunting me . If I have got the above set up wrong as well any pointers would be grate

cheers

Steve

Re: Xbox 360 - Lumagen HDP Walkthrough Please

Steve: Really sorry for not getting back to you on this. I've been spending most of my time in bed or out at customers when I feel up to it. Just got back in and feeling ropey...

You are bang on with the hardware connection. All you'll have to do is adjust the MENU>IN>CONFIG>ADJ>SIZE>T/L THEN B/R to make the incoming signal from the XBOX fill the outgoing frame of the scaler. I would leave the rest of the settings as is for now. See how you get on...

Oh and dont forget to PULL MAINS before plugging and unplugging....and to MENU>SAVE>SAVE>SAVE after the adjiustments so they stick

Re: Xbox 360 - Lumagen HDP Walkthrough Please

Hi Gordon

Didn't want to bother you again I know you are a busy man. Thanks for the advice, but does it matter that the Xbox will be inputting a HD(1080i) signal as opposed to the SD signal the Sky+ gives? Would this not mean the input and output settings would be totally different? Also how do you set up for a different menu on the same input?

Sorry for all the questions but still trying to get my head around things

Re: Xbox 360 - Lumagen HDP Walkthrough Please

It is automatic. When the scaler has banks of data it saves specifically for 1080i, 720p, 480/476, and ANYTHING else. This means that if you say had brightness at 132 for your Skybox and then you fed 720p from your XBOX to the scaler you would find the brightness on that input and memory would be at default 128. You could then adjust it independant of the 576 setting for the Sky box, even althoguh they both share the same input and memory.

You are correct that you want to make sure this input signal type from your xbox uses the correct output res but I am sure that the way I set it up it will be. The way to check is this. When Sky is on press MENU and look and see what the number is to at the right of OUT in the menu tree. ie MENU. OUT1

Now put the xbox signal in to the scaler and check that the number beside the OUT is the same. If it isn't let me know and I'll tell you how to change it.
