Best 5.1 Speakers for £1000
Gents
I am going to treat myself as Santa forgot me !!!
Anyway can you please tell me your thoughts on the best 5.1 speakers for around the £1000 mark. KEF 5005.2 seem to be a favourite but can only find them for £1249. Are there any others that you recommend ?
All you help is very much appreciated.
Also is there an home cinema installation company in Derbyshire anyone uses ?

Re: Best 5.1 Speakers for £1000
The KEF KHT-3005 is around the £1000 mark, but it depends on what you're looking for.
Personally, I found them to be a little bright, but the sub was impressive.
The Monitor Audio BR5AV package can be had for under £1000, but then you have to have room for floorstanders and the wall space for the BRFX's...

Many thanks for your reply.
Probably looking for a wall mounted type rather than the Monitor Audio BR5AV.

tannoy arena, very nice, but stands and brackets add to the price. These are the bit you need to haggle on with the dealer.

Re: Best 5.1 Speakers for £1000
Demo the SVS 5.1 [SBS-01 + PB10 or PB12 sub]
They are under £1000 mark, and very powerful. Save a bit for some fancy cabling, and stands if you like.
With SVS, you simple can't go wrong.
[See the 'Powerbuy' section in Speakers or Subwoofer section for special SVS offers from AVSales]
All the best

I got a B&W MT-20 set a year ago for around that price, should be much the same now? Not regretted it yet...

Re: Best 5.1 Speakers for £1000
Consider Castle Compact, the 5.1 officially retails for #1000, beautiful wood finishes and sound, WHF 5 star rated. If you want good stereo music performance though you will need the Columns as fronts, officially #300 more.
Think and ask around (and listen!). I heard Castle were having difficulties, which may mean a risk if you buy from them. On the other hand, it may be a chance for a bargain, and I saw ex-demos very cheap on ebay.

Re: Best 5.1 Speakers for £1000
I still think that the Quad Lite's are well worth a listen. Superbly finished and a good sub (now that I have heard it in a room that works well) even if the sound is more musical than home cinema. If you like the sound of the MT packages, you may finsthe Quad's a bit too dull, I think.

Re: Best 5.1 Speakers for £1000
i picked up my 5.1 acoustic energy evo 1 kit for almost 400 pounds years ago but now they are selling the updated kit the acoustic energy evo 3b 5.1 kit for 500 quid its not bad really just over 100watts per speaker and the two large floorstanders is 130 watts each i think or more
anyway these are perfect but they come with there own sub so well worth it mate and maybe you can buy that new sony 7.1 amp with the money left and you would still have enough for a round down the pub hhe take care
also i bought all my cabels from maplins.co.uk
the speaker cabel was by shark and i used biwire and banana plugs all cables from maplins.co.uk
well worth it mate all sounding great with xbox 360
