Re: The Best Demo HD-DVDs as recommended by AVForums members

I have 13 and (although all are very good) for me the 3 standout titles for picture quality are -

The Fast and the Furious
Batman Begins
Mission Impossible 3

I would also HIGHLY recommend Phantom of The Opera and Rambo : First Blood Part 2

I agree with MI:3, Serenity and Batman Begins.

Dune is also great for picture. I also got Chronos which is simply fantastic A/V experience (and a 2.0kbps DTS-HD 5.1 soundtrack! - Though I'm not sure the A1 can decode it?! ).

Re: The Best Demo HD-DVDs as recommended by AVForums members

Might not be the best film but "The Hulk" is easily the best looking film I've seen on my system.

I can't judge on the sound as yet because I'm using the 360 add-on.

I can't believe there has only been one mention for King Kong. This has a stunning transfer, especially the jungle scenes and the T-Rex fight!

Re: The Best Demo HD-DVDs as recommended by AVForums members

Enter the Dragon
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I wasn't blown away by King Kong or Batman Begins at all, don't get me wrong they are very well transfered but so were the dvds.

I think cgi and heavily post-processed/coloured films don't sell HD as well as films like the two I've mentioned.

Enter The Dragon was the first title I watched and it blew me away. I've watched this film many times in many cuts and formats since I first saw it over 20 years ago on betamax,so being very familiar with this film the jump in detail really stuck out.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,I knew this film would look great and it did, its shot really well and has great colours to start with. I spent much of the start of the film staring at Johnny Depp's intricately detailed 70s shirts like this Theres a black/yellow shirt on the dvd that when you watch the hd-dvd version you realise that its made of velvet due to the increased detail. Great, great looking movie

Another vote for King Kong. I was also very impressed by the Thing (given the age of the print) and MI III.

world trade center for me, to say 3/4 of the film is in darkness the detail on nic cages face full of dirt and debris is astounding.
