Re: Need a NEW Broadband Provider
I'm with Entanet via UKFSN. They just had a network upgrade and things look pretty dandy. Speedtest I just carried out (peak time on a red exchange)
SPEEDTEST RESULT
They are also currently the top rated ISP at DSL Zone. http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings.php
£20 per month gets you ADSL max on a one month contract, 30GB/month during peak time plus an additional 300GB/month off peak. Totally unshaped. Best BT Wholesale IP Stream ISP there is in my humble opinion.

I'm actually on a business package, office max 45. But I'm about to change to home max 30, and that is the one for £20/month:

Re: Need a NEW Broadband Provider
Been with Entanet/UKFSN for about one year at home. They have also been the ISP at my place of work for about 4 years.
Entanet are mainly a business ISP and they do not deal with end users direct. You have to go via a reseller. I chose UKFSN after some reasearch on Think Broadband (formerly ADSL Guide). UKFSN are a one man band, and I agree their website could look better. This does not bother me in the slightest though as the connection, billing, 24 hour technical support is all handled directly by Entanet.
If UKFSN were to go belly up tomorrow, Enta would take over the account until I chose a new reseller, so there would be no loss of service (Enta have confirmed this policy). There are other resellers you could look at, I only mention UKFSN because I have peresonal experience of them.
At the risk of sounding big headed, I am fairly knowledgable when it comes to ADSL, and I would not have picked Entanet/UKFSN if I thought there was any risk involved. If I am wrong fair enough, it is only a one month contract.
You may want to have a look at the Entanet site http://www.enta.net/

I don't like these comparison sites. They are very simplistic, offer limited choice and appear to be biased. Moneysupermarket seems better than uSwitch but having tried various different options and postcodes the results were still not very impressive or comprehensive.
A little time invested in doing your own research on sites like ThinkBroadband, DSL Zone & even this one will give you a much better overview of whats out there.
Must admit I used uSwitch previously to change energy supplier. Having seen the broadband results, I wont be so lazy next time!

Re: Need a NEW Broadband Provider
I've been with Ukonline for over a year now and am happy with the service. I have the 22Mb unlimited connection which is DSL2 and required a new router but I think it's worth it.

Re: Need a NEW Broadband Provider
I can vouch for UKFSn too.
I wanted to sign up one evening, but the guy (it is a one man band!) had closed th elines for the evening, and I posted my frustration on a site, lo and behold the fella PM's me asking for my phone number. Rings me up, and we go throught the sign up. Absolutely no problems so far, and capacity and pings far better than any ISp I've had since Plus net started crapping up about 12 months ago. And in that time, including UKFSN, I've had 3 other ISP's!

Re: Need a NEW Broadband Provider
also have a look at
www.newnet.co.uk
just been with them for about 1 month now and they are excellent - good speeds, no peaktime issues etc, no 12 month contract (month to month), great technical support if needed (answered queries within 12 hours).
good choice of packages avaliable. also check out www.adslguide.org for other people views of the ISP you are considering.

I have to agree about Plusnet. Been with them for years but the performance just isn't up to scratch any more.
